Phone Manners

We live in a society where interpersonal communication has taken a back seat to e-mail and texting. It is easier to text somebody because you say what you want and move on.

I have been receiving phone calls from incoming players that are, to say the least, interesting. Players call me and start talking to me as if I know who they are and what they need. I have had to stop conversations and coach these players (and some parents) on proper phone etiquette.

I will be telling our players to use following format:
"Hello, is this Coach Dailey?"
Yes it is.
"Hi, this is Philip Rivers from the Freshman Football team."
Hello Philip. What can I do for you?
"Could you please help me with getting on the AAU website?"

The reason I chose to be the Freshman coach was to coach young men up in life. This is just a small step in building men...
